736-Public Utilities Commission

UTILITIES (TERMINATION OF SERVICES) go back

Per PUC 10009, a 10 day notice of termination for nonpayment is required for residential customers. The notice is mailed not earlier than 19 days after mailing bill for services and must state that the 10-day period does not start until 5days after the notice is mailed.

PUC 10009 requires a privately owned public utility to make a reasonable attempt to contact an adult person residing at the premises of the customer by telephone or in person at least 24 hours before termination of services if telephone or personal contact cannot be made, a termination notice must be posted in a conspicuous location on the premises at least 48 hours before termination.
