Paralegal
|
Paralegals are not licensed or registered with any Federal/State agency. A paralegal may be any individual who has specific legal knowledge in which an attorney specializes. The attorney may train the individual, such as a legal secretary, to handle the more simple aspects of law, and thus that person would become a "paralegal." A person may take classes (designed for assisting at a law office) at a community college or a school licensed by the California Bureau for Private Post-Secondary Education. A paralegal may file papers for a consumer at court i.e., divorce decree, but a paralegal may not represent an individual in court.
