The Department of Heath Care Services investigates complaints about discrimination in medical services or personal mistreatment relative to discriminatory practices. Convalescent homes that accept Medi-Cal and Medicaid patients and who practice discrimination should be reported to Department of Health Services.

The US Department of Health and Human Services is at the Federal level for administration of health care programs. Consumers can call for instructions on how to file a complaint if they are discriminated against by welfare, health agencies, or hospitals because of race, origin, age, or handicap.
