007-Arbitration Certification Program


Arbitration Certification Program The Arbitration Certification Program certifies and monitors third-party arbitration programs of participating automobile manufacturers to ensure compliance with California laws and regulations related to new vehicle warranties and manufacturer sponsored arbitration programs. One of the program's goals is to promote the use of alternative dispute resolution in lieu of court action and reduce the strain and cost on consumers and the court system.

Lemon Law (Automobiles only)

Under California's Lemon Law, a new or used car that is still covered by the manufacturer's warranty may be returned to the manufacturer for a refund or a replacement if it cannot be repaired after a "reasonable" number of repair attempts have been made by the dealer or manufacturer. Steps To Take If You Think You Have A Lemon

1. Consult your warranty booklet to determine that the warranty coverage is in effect.

2. Attempt to resolve the problem with the dealer.

3. Contact the manufacturer or its representative directly. In some cases, you may be required to directly notify the manufacturer of the need for further repairs. Send letters by certified mail, keeping a copy and the certified mail receipt.
