The Consumer Affairs Division of the US Department of Transportation provides information about commercial air transportation and air travelers' rights. Consumers' problems with airlines are recorded in a data base and the results are published in a consumer report available to the public. This office will not personally return a consumer's call but will register the complaint, and if appropriate, will contact airline personnel.

Delays, cancellations, oversale of reservation, luggage, frequent flyer programs, ticketing, disabled access, fares, advertising, refunds, tours and charters, smoking on international flights.
Complaints outside jurisdiction:
Safety, security, and cargo.
