Surgical technologists provide patient care and assume appropriate responsibilities before, during and after surgery. Surgical technologists prepare the operating room, assist surgeons during operations are responsible for maintaining a sterile environment.
Under the direction of a physician, surgical technologist are educated to properly position a patient on the operating table, assist in connecting and applying surgical equipment, monitoring devices, and preparing the incision site by cleaning the skin.
No license is required for surgical technologists. Hospitals are responsible for their training and set their own requirements.
