	<p>The National Runaway Switchboard is a federally funded, volunteer-based organization. It operates eight telephone crisis lines 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Volunteers provide crisis intervention, information and local referrals to adolescents and their families and assist each caller in developing options and a plan of action. It arranges conference calls to parents and provides message services for parents and youths. Conference calls are also arranged between shelters and other agencies to determine appropriate and available services. The National Runaway Switchboard administers the Home-Free Program via Greyhound Bus Lines which provides adolescent runaways with a free bus ticket home.
