Psychiatric technicians (PT) are responsible for providing care and training for clients with mental disorders and developmental disabilities. PTs are employed by psychiatric facilities such as state, city or county mental hospitals, state developmental centers, vocational training centers, and group counseling services.
The Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technician Examiners, examines, licenses and regulates Psychiatric Technicians.
