If a landlord hires a resident manager to manage his rental property and the employee lives on site, the manager is not required to be licensed by the California Department of Real Estate.
However, if a landlord hires a person to manage the rental property and the employee lives off site, the manager must be licensed by the California Department of Real Estate.
