Phlebotomy is the therapeutic practice of opening a vein to draw blood and is also referred to as "venesection". Phlebotomists do not require a license. They perform venipuncture and skin puncture in a licensed clinical laboratory after meeting specific training requirements approved by a physician, surgeon or clinical laboratory bioanalyst.
Phlebotomist do not require a license, only special training with approval of a Medical Doctor.
