City and county parking lots are governed by their respective municipalities.

City Jurisdiction:

The City of Sacramento Parking Facilities Division, has jurisdiction over all city owned and operated parking facilities; including maintenance, monthly permits, payments due, parking enforcement.

County Jurisdiction:

The Sacramento County Parking Enforcement Program issues parking violations of the California Vehicle Code and Sacramento County ordinances in parking lots, on-street and off-street, including residential streets in the unincorporated area of Sacramento County.

Privately-owned parking lots are not governed by any city or county entity. Management of privately-owned parking lots, including establishment of parking rates, is the responsibility of the owner.
