The California Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Optometry, administers the Optometry Act and other statutory provisions relating to the practice of optometry. Regulation includes examining and licensing optometrists, licensing branch offices, registering optometric corporations, and accrediting schools and colleges of optometry.
Complaint jurisdiction:
Unlicensed activity, unprofessional conduct, gross ignorance or inefficiency, habitual use of alcohol or other drugs, fraudulent or misleading advertising, fraud, conviction of a crime substantially related to the functions of an optometrist, and will help with Fee disputes as well.
Complaints Outside Jurisdiction:
Ethics, Medi-Cal or Medicare, registered dispensing opticians (optical firms), and ophthalmologists.
