Nuclear Medicine Technology/Technologists

Certification of nuclear medicine technologists is performed by the California Department of Health Services. Requirements include successful completion of college level courses specific to nuclear medical technology and laboratory training. Responsibilities of a technologist include administering radioactive material to humans for diagnostic purposes.

To obtain a certificate, the applicant must pass the state-administered exam or submit documentary evidence of having passed an exam equivalent to that administered by the California Department of Health Services and offered by one of the following:
Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, or the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
