The [http://www.cmvrc.org/ '''Consumer Motor Vehicle Recovery Corporation (CMVRC)]''' is a non-profit organization, which assists consumers who have not been adequately compensated from a California motor vehicle dealer or a lessor retailer during the purchase of a vehicle. CMVRC will provide payments to consumers with eligible claims for monetary losses suffered if a California motor vehicle dealer or lessor retailer has gone out business or has filed bankruptcy and has failed to do any of the following: 

*Transfer license, registration and/or titling fees to DMV. 
*Pay the agreed upon consignment amount after the sale of the vehicle. 
*Pay off the agreed upon amount for the trade-in vehicle upon purchase or lease of a vehicle. 

The CMVRC reviews and processes all claims made against the Recovery Fund. It is not a government agency or an insurance company. It is not associated with or controlled by any dealer or lessor-retailer of motor vehicles, nor does it represent any dealer or lessor-retailer of motor vehicles.
