The Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) is the federal agency that administers Medicare, the nation's largest health insurance program, which covers 37 million Americans. Medicare provides health insurance to people age 65 and over, and those who have permanent kidney failure, and certain people with disabilities.
The Office of the Inspector General at the Department of Health and Human Services National Fraud Hotline will take complaints about reports of fraud against programs of the department and crimes against departmental employees or contractors and offers assistance with questions or complaints regarding Medicare hospital patient appeal rights, early discharge or denial of hospital admission.
