Radiation therapy technologists operate a variety of sophisticated machines, such as linear accelerators and cobalt units, which generate X-rays, gamma rays, electron beams, and other types of radiation in the treatment of cancer patients.

Radioligic technologists, which includes occupations such as manmagraphic technologists, computer tomography (CT) technologists, ultrasound technologists and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technologists, prepare and process images of designated portions of the body.

Nuclear medicine technologist responsibilities include administering radioactive material to humans for diagnostic purposes. Requirements include successful completion of college level courses specific to nuclear medical technology and laboratory training. To obtain a certificate, the applicant must pass the state administered exam or submit documentary evidence of having passed an exam equivalent by one of the following: Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, or the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
