Hypnotists are not licensed or regulated by any state agency. Once under the jurisdiction of the Board of Behavioral Sciences, (State of California Department of Consumer Affairs), this field was deregulated in 1991. Hypnotists may apply to various private entities to acquire some sort of registration or certification.
