The California Department of Food and Agriculture has jurisdiction over several areas of food and agriculture, including: ensuring that consumers, handlers, and producers receive accurate weights and measures of the commodities and services they purchase; promoting California agriculture and food products; protecting against exotic pests and diseases; and ensuring that only safe and quality food reaches the consumer.

Complaint Jurisdiction:
Cleanliness, wholesomeness, truthful labeling of meat and poultry produced in establishments exempt from federal regulation, maturity, grade, size, weight packaging and labeling of fruits vegetables, nuts, eggs, beans, commercial feed, etc.
Complaints Outside Jurisdiction:
Inspection of processed food (canned, frozen, or packaged), food stamps, farm advisor activities (information on growing foods).
