Fire Protection Engineers

Fire protection engineers design sprinkler water systems to be installed in buildings for fire prevention; however, the California Department of Forestry, Office of the State Fire Marshal must approve the type of sprinkler system used in buildings in California. Licensing for this classification of engineer is with the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
