Fiduciary: pertaining to or acting as a trustee; one who holds something in trust.
The court can appoint a public administrator for the estate of a person unable to manage his or her own affairs. The person may be elderly, mentally incompetent, or incapable of managing his or her own financial matters. This service is also used when a person is deceased and no will exists, or when the will is contested. Cases are under the jurisdiction of the Superior Court with an appointed "Attorney of the Day" who reviews and follows the administration of the trust according to legal procedures. Complaints may be made to the Superior Court in consumer's area or where the case was filed. Superior Court listings may be found in the telephone directory white pages.
