The California, Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) is responsible for enforcing California's comprehensive employment, housing, public accommodations and public service non-discrimination laws, as well as the State's bias-related hate violence law.

Discrimination based on race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, sex, age (over 40), disability, medical condition, and marital status prohibited. Includes harassment, pregnancy leave, family or medical leave, and accommodation to disabilities.
Housing:

Discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, marital status, national origin,ancestry, familial status, disability, and other arbitrary basis such as sexual orientation prohibited. Includes evicting, failing to rent, selling to persons in a discriminatory fashion, refusing housing to families with children, and refusing to allow disabled persons to modify facilities.

Hate violence, including acts or threats of violence against persons because of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, or national origin.

Discriminatory refusal of services or accommodation by business, based on sex, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, disability and other arbitrary bases such as sexual orientation prohibited. Includes refusal to serve persons, refusal to sell or make products or services available, or making products or services available in a discriminatory fashion. (Does not encompass circumstances where service, product, or credit has been denied because of the level of a person's income).
