Drugs in Feed and Fertilizer
From Consumer Wiki
|
The California Department of Food and Agriculture, Agricultural Commodities and Regulatory Services (formerly the Feed and Fertilizer Inspection Branch), has the responsibility of enforcing the registration of manufactured products used in feed and fertilizer.
The Department licenses feed stores which sell "restricted" drugs (those requiring a vet to administer by hypodermic needle), such as antibiotics. This department also licenses the companies which market feed and fertilizer products in California by sending inspectors to perform follow-up tests for drug residue in animals and soil. To sell "unrestricted" drugs over the counter does not require a license.
