Responsibility for credit card charges incurred by some other person is usually a complicated issue. Consumers should seek legal advice when they are asked to pay on contracts signed or items purchased by others. Many times co-signers or spouses share responsibility for credit charges; when one dies, fails to pay, or disappears, responsibility for payment of the debt falls on the other. In case of doubt, it's better to obtain legal advice.
