A copyright refers to the exclusive right to the publication, production, or sale of the rights to a literary, dramatic, musical, or artistic work. It can also include the use of a commercial print or label. Protection for copyrights is granted by law for a specified time period to an author, composer, artist or distributor.
Copyrights cover "original works of authorship," such as the following: literary works, musical compositions, including the accompanying words, dramatic works, pantomime and choreographic works, graphic and sculptural works, motion pictures and other audiovisual works, sound recordings, computer software, and architectural works.
