Bounty Hunters execute bond forfeiture and Failure to Appear (FTA) warrants on behalf of the bail bond industry for a monetary reward. Bounty hunters are not licensed by any agency but are empowered by Sections 1300 and 1300.1 of the Penal Code which governs the bail bond agent.
Bounty Hunters must work under a licensed bail bond agent and carry a copy of the bail bond agent’s license; they must also hold a surety bond issued by a surety (Insurance) company. A Bounty Hunter may carry a concealed weapon if licensed to do so by the city or county.
