The California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Home Furnishings and Thermal Insulation (BHFTI), regulates the required content and format of the labels found on all articles of upholstered furniture and bedding, including sanitized mattresses for resale.
Product jurisdiction includes upholstered furniture and bedding products and all items which have been stuffed or padded with concealed filling material such as sofas, recliners, mattresses, pillows, sleeping bags, and child safety seats.
