Automobile (Odometer Tampering)
From Consumer Wiki
|
Automobile dealers are required to keep records showing mileage statements for vehicles and must make them available for a consumer. Disconnecting or resetting the odometer with the intent to change the mileage or false representation of the vehicle's mileage to defraud any person of the monetary value of a vehicle is against the law.
Contact the Bureau of Investigations, the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), for additional information or assistance. (Vehicle Code, Division 12, Article 10, Odometer Sections 28050 through 28053.)
