The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) requires licensure for any individuals who act as automobile brokers/finders for consumers. The broker may inspect the vehicle (acting as a mechanic) to verify the condition of the vehicle for the consumer considering purchasing it. A broker/finder who operates a repair station will require a Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) license.
