AUTOMOBILE (ALTERNATIVE FUEL VEHICLES)
The California Air Resources Board (ARB) requires installers of retrofit alternative fuel systems to submit converted vehicles for inspection and testing at an Automotive Repair Program referee facility. This inspection will help assure that the installer has not tampered with the emission control system, and it will aid in the detection and installation of non-certified configurations. These requirements apply only to vehicles retrofitted after January 1, 1994. Vehicles that were retrofitted for alternative fueled systems previously will not be affected and can be tested at any licensed Smog Check station.
