AUDITS
The California Bureau of State Audits (BSA) is an independent external auditor that provides independent, nonpartisan, accurate and timely assessments of California government's financial and operational activities in compliance with generally accepted government auditing standards. BSA is mandated by law to audit every state agency according to "performance audits."
BSA investigates improper government activities, illegal acts, fraud, embezzlement, gross waste and gross mismanagement by either a state agency or an employee. If there is a finding of criminal activity, BSA will refer the matter to the State Attorney General's Office for further investigation.
