ANIMALS (CONTROL/CARE)


City jurisdiction: Contact the city about animals which are vicious, dangerous, rabid, injured, or traffic hazards (live or dead). This office also provides information on adoptions, low cost vaccination clinics, lost or found animals, pet licenses, volunteering, or any animal related issue (within the city limits):

County jurisdiction: Contact the county about animals which are vicious, dangerous, injured, traffic hazards (live or dead) or lost. This office also provides information on adoption, rabies clinics ($5.00 cash), neutering/spay clinics. If an individual has been scratched or bitten by an animal, information on procedures is provided by this office. Call the emergency number for an animal whose safety is being threatened and for help after office hours.

SPCA: (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)

Consumers may contact SPCA about animals which are dangerous, abused, lost or found. Individuals interested in adopting or surrendering animals, spaying or neutering animals, or who are interested in volunteering or acting as humane education speakers may also contact the agency.

HSUS: (Humane Society of the United States)

HSUS is a nonprofit society which seeks to protect both wild and tame animals from inhumane treatment. Among other activities, it investigates cock fighting and dog fights, the treatment of animals by circuses and rodeos, tries to prevent the unnecessary use of animals in research, and lobbies for legislation to protect animals. HSUS will take complaints on pet stores. It is not an animal shelter.
