The California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs (DADP) assists the public by coordinating services with county health departments to prevent alcohol and drug abuse. When individuals call in for advice or assistance, they are referred to their local county health department for a treatment center location relative to their income, insurance, and type of treatment. The department also licenses and certifies treatment centers through a careful application process. The ADP has a treatment center directory for patient referral, as well as a resource center with free publications and videos, but requests for on-site presentations must be made through county health departments.
