AIRCRAFT (REGISTRATION)
The U. S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Civil Aviation Registry, has jurisdiction over registration of aircraft. This office is responsible for developing, maintaining, and operating national programs for the registration of United States civil aircraft and certification of airmen.
The registry maintains the permanent records of over 320,000 active civil aircraft.
