The California Department of Social Services (DSS) investigates cases of child or adult abuse and neglect. The department also investigates reports of adult physical, psychological, or financial abuse involving anyone 18 years or older.
Citizens may find the number for their county by consulting the Government pages of their local telephone directory. Cases of abuse may be reported to the police as well.
